What comes out the other side is a deeper, steadier green-grey, and because the color lives in the fiber instead of coating it, washing and wear push the tone further along rather than stripping it away. Naked \u0026amp; Famous runs that weft against indigo rope-dyed warp yarns in a 13oz Japanese selvedge, which sets up the long game: as the indigo gives way at the knees and the seat, the green-grey underneath comes forward. Green is the difficult one in the FoxFibre® family. Sally Fox began selectively breeding naturally pigmented cotton in the 1980s to take chemical dyeing out of the equation, and the green variety she developed grows shorter fibers at much lower yields than the brown, which makes it harder to spin consistently and keeps the supply thin. For this denim the cotton is grown in the United States and the yarn is spun in Osaka, putting American organic agriculture and Japanese weaving on the same loom.
