8169 - Kyoto "Kurozome" Dyed T-Shirt - Black

$ 150.00

The Studio D’Artisan 8169 is a regular-fit t-shirt made from U.S.-grown cotton and garment-dyed using a centuries-old Japanese technique called “Kurozome.” This traditional process, overseen by Kyoto Montsuki - a dye house with more than 100 years of history - involves layering natural black dye over an initial base (typically red or indigo), producing a uniquely rich and deep black that will not fade like sulfur-dyed shirts. The result is a shirt that feels rooted in Japanese craft but fits and wears like a modern daily staple. Ribbed at the collar and finished with discreet branding, it’s a simple tee elevated through time-honored technique. It reminds us of a grayscale Japanese Flag. We love its modern touch.

  • Deep black color achieved through layered natural dye

A variance of +/-.5" is within tolerance.

Fit Notes: Most of our Japanese brands are considered to have a small fit. Tommy is wearing a size XL in the pictures. This shirt has a slightly roomier cut than the other tees. It's just a slight bit boxier in the body and longer in the arms, which is welcomed. We still recommend sizing up. Tommy is 5'10," 165lbs with a 40" chest.
