We've been looking for an outerwear brand specializing in down for quite some time. When we stumbled upon Nanga on our last visit to Japan, we couldn't help but to wonder if one day they would make it to the States. To our surprise, they were at the very next show we attended. The product is as good in person as it looks online! Their colors are out of this world with a lot of the garments having an almost translucent effect. It's what visually drew us to the brand from the start. 

Nanga’s Aurora Light Down Jacket “Mikami” in the hooded configuration pushes their sleeping-bag DNA even further, delivering top-tier warmth with full storm protection. Built from Nanga’s proprietary 15dn AuroraTex Light, this featherweight shell packs serious performance with 20,394 mm water resistance and exceptional moisture permeability. The insulated hood replaces the stand collar, creating full head coverage without adding bulk, and pairs with a side-zip ventilation panel that reveals a breathable mesh layer for fast heat release and temperature control. Inside, the jacket is loaded with 150g of SPDX Polish goose down at an 860 fill power, arranged using targeted box-quilt construction lifted directly from Nanga’s premium sleeping bags to maximize warmth retention across cold-prone zones. A 10dn recycled nylon lining keeps the interior extremely light, while thoughtful patterning prevents sleeve down from collapsing during movement. Finished with waterproof matte zippers, fleece-lined pockets, reinforced shoulders, Velcro cuffs, and hem drawcord, this version delivers deep-winter capability with an effortless, mountain-ready silhouette. Fit Notes: Tommy is wearing a Japanese L in this piece. He originally tried on an XL as he remembered these fitting a bit small during buying season, but it turns out the Parka styles fit pretty true to size. We would recommend snagging your true size in this one.  Tommy is 5'9," 162lbs with a 40" chest.
