D1894S - 15oz "Sou-Ai" Natural Indigo Selvedge Jeans - Regular Straight

Studio D’artisan’s D1894 “Sou‑Ai” jeans showcase a deeply textured 15 oz selvedge denim woven on power looms with alternating slub yarns - one dyed red‑cast indigo, the other green‑cast indigo - to create a rich, multi-tonal warp that contrasts subtly with a natural ecru weft and highlights a pronounced “rain streak” effect common in traditional Tokushima dyeing (natural dyeing). This unsanforized denim is lightly rinsed to preserve its slubby hand while reducing shrinkage. This creates a nice crunchy texture we love in one rinse denims. You'll also notice all the classic construction details, including custom copper rivets, selvedge-cut fifth-pocket, herringbone pocket bags, offset belt loop, chain-stitched hem, and a leather Sou‑Ai patch. Over time, the dual-indigo warp develops high-contrast fades and depth unlike any standard indigo denim, making this both a visual standout and an enduring staple made entirely in Japan. At this point, it's hard to distinguish favorites because everything Studio makes is art, but this one is a special fabric.

Fit Notes: These fit like a traditional pair of Studio D'artisan, which is smaller than most brands. Tommy is wearing a 34 which is his normal size. They fit exactly as he would've expected a Regular Straight to fit. They were perfect in the waist with plenty of room in the thigh and leg. If you get the waist right, the rest should fall in line. Tommy is 5'10," 162lbs with a 33-34" waist.
