D4615 - 15oz "Awa Sho-Ai Kakishibu" Natural Indigo x Kakishibu Selvedge Jacket - Type II

Studio D’Artisan "Awa Sho-Ai Kakishibu" Type 2 Selvedge Jacket is built from one of the most ambitious natural dye projects we have seen from the brand. The 15oz unsanforized selvedge denim combines Awa Sho-Ai indigo, fermented and dyed using traditional Edo-period techniques, with Kakishibu persimmon-dyed weft yarns oxidized in the sun. The result is a fabric with shifting tones that move beyond standard indigo into deeper green-blue, near black, and earthy undertones. The Kakishibu weft introduces a subtle warmth and added texture through thicker, slub yarns, giving the jacket a structured, artisanal hand that stands apart from conventional 15oz denim. Built on a classic Type 2 silhouette with original hardware and custom leather patch, it is a natural dye piece that will evolve dramatically with wear.

A variance of +/-.5" is within tolerance. 

Fit Notes: This jacket runs fairly true to size, but we choose to only buy the bigger sizes in this piece for a reason. Tommy is wearing a 42 in the pictures. The chest on all of these is fairly boxy, so you mostly just want to try to get the length on the body and arms where you want them. We almost always recommend sizing up once in Studio denim garments, and we recommend the same here. Tommy is 5'9," 165lbs with a 41" chest.
