S0510XX-BOB - 15oz "Aoki Tachikage" Black Blue Selvedge Denim - Regular Straight

The Aoki Tachikage, translated as “Shadow of the Blue Blade,” takes its name from the fleeting glint a katana leaves as it moves through darkness. That same idea carries through the denim itself. At first glance, the fabric reads nearly black, but with wear it slowly reveals layers of indigo beneath the surface, creating a deep, shifting character that feels alive rather than static.

Samurai achieves this effect through a layered dye process. The warp yarns are rope-dyed in indigo, then overdyed with black sulfide, allowing the black surface to chip and wear back toward blue over time. Sulfur-black yarns in the weft deepen the contrast further, setting the stage for high-definition fades that develop with movement and use. Woven as a 15oz slub selvedge denim and given a one-wash rinse to remove shrinkage, the fabric balances texture, weight, and wearability. Finished in Samurai’s Regular Straight fit with custom royal blue hardware and navy stitching, this pair is designed to evolve slowly and dramatically the longer it’s worn.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a 35 in these. He decided to go up on this pair because of its straight nature. He's been feeling a little cramped in 34's, so this really paid off. It was a stellar fit in the waist. We would recommend sizing up twice in this pair. Tommy is 5'9,' 165lbs with a 33-34" waist.
