A variance of +/-.5" is within tolerance. 

Expect about 1-2 inches of shrinkage in the waist and inseam after a warm wash, so keep that in mind when choosing your size.

Fit Notes: Tommy is wearing a size 33 in this denim. He was able to wear his typical size without any real issues in the waist. They were a pretty "perfect" fit in the waist, so he would likely go up to a 34 to account for the shrinkage. We would highly recommend you do the same. Tommy is 5'10," 165lbs with a 33-34" waist, and his typical North American size is a 32.
