3114R-MH5 - USMC 1930s Utility Jacket Mini HBT - Sage

The #3114R USMC Utility Jacket is based on a rare piece issued to the U.S. Marine Corps during the 1930s. Unlike the later WWII-era HBT jackets most people are familiar with, the original version predates that design entirely. Early examples were constructed from lightweight blue denim and featured a noticeably different cut and pocket configuration from their wartime successors.

Post O’Alls’ version is reproduced from an original jacket owned by designer Takeshi Ohfuchi. The design has appeared a handful of times over the years, including collaborative projects in the late 2000s with Setsumasa Kobayashi’s ...Research line, such as NAVAL RESEARCH and PRISONER RESEARCH, and again during the brand’s 2022 Limited Release.

The jacket keeps the defining traits of the original intact: a simple three-pocket layout, a unique button configuration that extends below the lowest pocket, and a wide-bodied, slightly cropped silhouette. Cut here from sage mini HBT cotton and prewashed for comfort, it carries the easy structure of military workwear while remaining light enough for everyday wear.

Fit Notes: As with most Post O'Alls fits, these are on the roomier side. From a majority of Japanese brands, Tommy is not able to wear mediums...but this fit with even a little extra room. For us, that is the intended fit of the brand and how we would choose to wear nearly every piece. The arms have extra room and the body is the perfect size to be able to layer one of their other tops underneath. We would recommend sticking with your true size unless you're looking for a trim fit, then you may consider sizing down. Tommy is 5'9," 165lbs with a 41" chest.
