orSlow builds the 101 around 1990s denim proportions, the era when jeans sat high on the waist and ran straight all the way down, and the pattern comes out of the kind of personal wear that drives the brand's archive work rather than a trend cycle. This run uses a 13oz Japanese black denim with a subtle brushed texture, traced back to a pair from designer Ichiro Nakasu's own collection. A black stone wash finishes it, and the difference between a stone wash and a distressed treatment matters here. Nothing is being faked. The wash simply softens the fabric and pulls the depth forward, leaving muted highs and lows across the surface that read as a pair someone has already been wearing a while. The comfort shows up the first day, and the black keeps moving as you wear it, settling toward the gray-black that old black denim always finds eventually. Construction stays classic five-pocket, with contrast stitching running the seams, copper rivets at the stress points, oxidized hardware, and a vintage-style paper patch at the waist. Built and finished in Japan.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a (3) in the pictures. He's found that he can wear a (2) or (3) in almost every fit, but prefers a little more room in all orSlow denim. They were a great fit in the waist with plenty or room through the leg and opening, without being baggy. We would recommend sizing up once. He is 5'9" 165lbs with between a 33-34" waist.
