022-KIRAKU - 12oz "Natural Indigo" Selvedge Denim - Relax Straight Fit

ONI has been our holy grail brand from the very beginning, and we've finally been able to build a relationship with the brand and owner Masao Oishi. The brand is as old school and secretive as it appears. They use traditional construction methods to create low-tension, irregular, slubby denim that has a cult following. Their selvedge tickles the ancient part of our brain that makes us love denim so much. ONI does one thing and they do it to perfection. We can't wait to explore their wonderful world of fabric and fits with you guys.

It was only a matter of time until ONI popped off with some Natural Indigo. This may be the lighests "traditional" style pant you've ever seen from the brand, meaning it looks like their heavier denim...but isn't. They use the same low-tension techniques to create a pant that can be seen through when held up to the light. This pant is built to be worn during the hotter months while giving you all that rich, hardy, slubby texture you know and love. On top of that, it has some pretty kick ass details, one of our favorites being the bright pink selvedge ticker. The Kiraku II is made with blended Pima and Peru cotton for softness and then one-washed and dried in the sun (tempi treatment). Not that most ONI isn't soft, even in the heavier weights, but this denim is ready to wear out of the gate. Don't let that dissuade you from the fades though. The rope-dyed natural indigo in this pair is sure to fade with that unique ONI denim quality.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 33 in this Relaxed Straight fit. Surprisingly, this is his standard size in most denim these days. They were absolutely perfect in the waist with extra room in the thighs, knee, and leg opening. The Relaxed Straight has just a bit more room in the legs than its Regular Straight predecessor. This is ONI's roomiest fit and is built for guys with big legs, or guys looking to rock a fashion cut. Tommy is 5'10," 165lbs, with a 32-33" waist.
