Tanuki is another brand that's been on our radar for quite some time. The more modern takes on vintage classics were something we always appreciated. And the simplicity of the branding is really alluring to us. We love how they incorporate it in the design of the apparel. They have been one of the most pleasant brands to work with and we can't wait to keep this journey going with a brand that has an eye on the future while keeping one foot in the past. 

The 14oz "ZETTO" selvedge is their flagship denim that has been on hiatus for quite some time. For its fading capabilities, it has become one of the most sought-after pairs in the lineup and also industry-wide. The denim is known for its impressive texture that softens unlike anything else in the collection. They've accomplished this by using that plush Texas cotton previously used by America's major jean manufacturer. It's then loomed on the same machine that produced the first pair nearly 15 years ago now. They upgraded the denim over time, but it still bears the same fading capabilities as the original. You'll notice that the warp is slightly lighter than other pairs and the weft is of a yellowish/ecru nature. They accomplished the color by dipping the fabric many times but for shorter periods in pure indigo. The more "natural" colored weft will lead this denim to fade with a dirty or antiqued look that you don't get from stark, bleached cotton. Add on all of Tanuki's wonderful details, and you have a pair of denim that's sure to see you through many years of adventures.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 33 in the pictures, as the High Tapered seems to have a larger waist to accompany the heavy taper. This was an easy fit in the waist with ample room in the thigh and leg for a tapered jean. We recommend sizing up at least once from what you normally wear. Tommy is 5'10," 163lbs with a 33-34" waist depending on the rise.
