orSlow built the New Yorker as a straightforward wide trouser, and this version keeps the pattern and changes the cloth. The cotton is brushed, a finishing step that lifts the fiber ends off the surface into a fine nap, and that nap does two things at once. It softens the hand considerably, so the trousers feel broken in from the first wear, and it scatters light across the face of the fabric, muting the coffee brown into something quieter and warmer than a flat weave would give you. The weight sits in moderate territory with enough body to carry a wide leg properly, which is where the cut earns its keep. The line falls clean from the waist all the way to the hem rather than ballooning at the thigh and collapsing below the knee, so the width reads as considered. An easy waistband handles the top and keeps the whole thing comfortable through a long day. The brushed surface also shifts as you wear it, settling and taking on character in the places you move most.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a (3) in the pictures. He's found that he can wear a (2) or (3) in almost every fit, but prefers a little more room in nearly everything. These were an easy fit in the waist because of the elasticity. We recommend buying the size that looks best for your legs. Tommy is 5'9", 160lbs with between a 33-34" waist.
