Herringbone twill became the US military's utility cloth during the Second World War, replacing denim across work uniforms because the zigzag weave gave more strength for its weight and took hard labor in stride. The fatigue trousers that came out of that program ran wide and plain, built for working in rather than looking at, and this pant carries those proportions over intact instead of slimming them down for modern taste. The fabric is orSlow's own herringbone twill, woven in Japan with uneven yarns so the surface comes out irregular and textured the way 1940s cloth did, back when consistent spinning was harder to achieve. Those pronounced herringbone ridges catch light across the black and give the fabric presence that a flat twill cannot manage. The weight sits in the middle, substantial enough to hang properly through a wide leg and light enough to keep wearing past the first warm week of spring. Patch pockets, a button fly, and belt loops keep the detailing as plain as the originals, and the whole thing is made in Japan.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a (3) in the pictures. He's found that he can wear a (2) or (3) in almost every fit, but prefers a little more room in nearly everything. These are a wide cut, but waist seems to fit him pretty true to orSlow nature. We would recommend buying your true size and getting the waist right first. The legs will follow. Tommy is 5'9," 160lbs with a 33-34" waist.
