01-8141-81k - 30s Denim Pullover Shirt Jacket - One Wash

The US Army issued denim pullovers for fatigue duty in the 1930s, and the pattern was about as plain as clothing gets: a half placket, big pockets, and nothing else to catch on anything. orSlow rebuilds it closely here, keeping the rugged look and the practicality of the original and adjusting it for how people wear things now. The denim is orSlow's own selvedge, the product of years of work on the brand's part, and the method matters as much as the cloth. Slub yarn goes onto an old-fashioned shuttle loom running slowly, which keeps the tension low and lets the irregularities stay in the weave rather than being pulled flat, so the surface has the unevenness and depth denim carried when these shirts were first issued. That is also what makes the shirt worth living with. Fading follows the way you move and the way you wash it, so no two end up alike, and the piece gets better the longer you keep it in rotation. Period-correct metal buttons closes the 3/4 placket, and the oversized pockets open from the side, which keeps whatever is in them from spilling when you bend over. The pockets and the cropped silhouette are the details we keep coming back to. It works beautifully with any of orSlow's army green trousers, the wide ones especially, with a pair of white sneakers underneath.

Fit Notes: This one is oversized again, but not egregiously so. Tommy is yet again wearing a size (2) in this, and you can see he isn't swimming. It's a nice, clean, and modern fit. He could likely wear a size (3) as he usually prefers a 23" chest, but this one was close enough, and the fit was what he was looking for overall. We recommend sticking with your normal orSlow size.  Tommy is 5'9," 160lbs with a 41" chest.
