Waffle knits earn their texture through geometry. The honeycomb structure raises and recesses the surface into hundreds of small pockets, which is what gives the fabric its loft and its breathability, and it is why waffle spent a century as the standard for thermal underwear before anyone thought to wear it on the outside. In short sleeve form those pockets work the other direction too, holding the knit slightly off the skin so air keeps moving. orSlow knits this one in Japan at 5.8oz with a soft hand and a good amount of give, helped along by the single percent of polyurethane blended into the cotton body, which lets the knit stretch as you move and return to shape afterward. The texture is the point as much as anything, breaking up the surface of an outfit in a way a flat jersey leaves alone, whether it runs on its own or as a layer under a shirt. Ribbing finishes the collar in 100% cotton. One thing worth knowing before the first wash: the fabric is not pre-rinsed, so orSlow expects roughly 3 to 4% shrinkage, which works out to about half an inch to an inch across most dimensions and a little more through the length.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy learned his lesson with their tees in the past. They're quite roomy, but as we mentioned, these have a pretty heavy shrink rate. So you may still want to size up in these.  He is wearing a size (2) in the pictures, which would likely still work for him even with the shrink. Tommy is 5'9," 165lbs with a 41" chest.
