1186-1 - 14oz "Slub Chambray" Pants - Regular Straight

Chambray and denim start from the same idea, a colored warp crossed with a pale weft, and split on the weave. Denim runs a twill, which stacks the indigo on the face and keeps the white hidden underneath. Chambray runs a plain weave, one over and one under, so both yarns sit on the surface in equal measure and the indigo reads lighter and softer, broken up by the natural weft at every intersection. Pure Blue Japan takes that structure somewhere unusual here. Shirt chambray typically lands somewhere around 5oz, and this one is 14oz, woven with the heavy slub yarn the brand is known for, so the surface comes out marbled and mottled with irregularity running through it in every direction. The weight gives you something substantial to wear while the plain weave keeps it breathable and soft, which is why these work through the year rather than only in the cold months. Built as a five-pocket pant on the Regular Straight pattern, one washed and made in Japan.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a 34 in these. He snagged his normal size, forgetting that the 003 runs a little tight on him in that size. He would likely buy the size 35. We recommend sizing up once in these by nature, and going up once more if you're looking for a roomy leg fit. If you like the true straight leg fit, once should be enough. Tommy is 5'9,' 160lbs with a 33-34" waist.
