13oz - Foxfibre® Green Weft Selvedge - True Guy

Iron is the quiet trick behind this fabric. Green FoxFibre® comes off the plant already carrying color, and treating it with iron, a mineral mordant that natural dyers have leaned on for centuries, sets off a reaction with the pigment already sitting inside the fiber rather than laying new color over the top of it. What comes out the other side is a deeper, steadier green-grey, and because the color lives in the fiber instead of coating it, washing and wear push the tone further along rather than stripping it away. Naked & Famous runs that weft against indigo rope-dyed warp yarns in a 13oz Japanese selvedge, which sets up the long game: as the indigo gives way at the knees and the seat, the green-grey underneath comes forward. Green is the difficult one in the FoxFibre® family. Sally Fox began selectively breeding naturally pigmented cotton in the 1980s to take chemical dyeing out of the equation, and the green variety she developed grows shorter fibers at much lower yields than the brown, which makes it harder to spin consistently and keeps the supply thin. For this denim the cotton is grown in the United States and the yarn is spun in Osaka, putting American organic agriculture and Japanese weaving on the same loom. A 5oz natural vegetable-tanned leather patch sits at the waistband, ready to darken and take on its own patina alongside the denim, with tin hardware and a button fly closing things out.

Fit Notes: These fit like a standard pair of True Guys. Tommy is wearing his normal size 34 in the photos. We would recommend you grab your normal Naked & Famous size. Tommy is 5'9", 160lbs with a 33-34" waist. 

*The True Guy is a straight leg fit with a medium rise along with extra room in the seat and thigh that falls straight from knee to hem.*
