A variance of +/-.5" is within tolerance. 

Fit Notes: These fit like a traditional pair of Studio D'artisan, which is smaller than most brands. Tommy is wearing a 34, which is his normal size. These fit absolutely spot on. With a more tailored leg, more room in the waist is always welcome in our opinion, so we would still recommend sizing up at least once. Tommy is 5'9," 162lbs with a 33-34" waist.
