22oz - Elephant 2 Reborn Selvedge - Denim Jacket

Some fabrics get talked about for a season. Elephant 2 has been talked about for years, long enough that Naked & Famous is now bringing it back for a third run on the strength of what people keep posting after wearing it, and this time the 22oz lands in jacket form. The weight is the first thing you notice. A 22oz Japanese selvedge arrives dense and rigid, and on a jacket that means it holds its own shape off the hanger and stands away from the body rather than draping over it. Heavy, uneven yarns run through the weave and leave ridges and raised slub across the surface, so there is real topography in the cloth from the start. That texture is what the fades eventually follow. Wear it and the denim begins softening in stages, loosening first at the elbows, the cuffs, and the collar fold while the indigo pulls back from every high point in the weave. Rope dyeing leaves each yarn with a white core, and at this weight the breaking-in exposes those cores quickly, which is where the high contrast, the deep creasing, and the pronounced texture of a well-worn jacket all come from. A button front runs the placket, with flap pockets at the chest, slash pockets at the hands, and interior pocket bags inside. A 10oz natural vegetable-tanned leather patch sits at the back, heavy enough to earn its own patina, and tin hardware finishes the rest.

Fit Notes: Tommy is wearing a large in this piece. The Type II jacket is a pretty classic fit, and he likes a little extra room. You could likely wear your true size if you like a more traditional fit, but we ultimately recommend you size up once. Tommy is 5'9", 160lbs with a 41" chest.
