22oz - Elephant 2 Reborn Selvedge - Weird Guy

Some fabrics get talked about for a season. Elephant 2 has been talked about for years, long enough that Naked & Famous is now bringing it back for a third run on the strength of what people keep posting after wearing it. The appeal starts with the weight. At 22oz, this Japanese selvedge arrives dense and rigid, and the first few weeks ask something of you before they give anything back. Heavy, uneven yarns run through the weave and leave ridges and raised slub across the surface, so there is real topography in the cloth from the start. That texture is what the fades eventually follow. Stay with the denim and it begins softening in stages, loosening at the knees and the seat while the indigo pulls back from every high point in the weave. Rope dyeing leaves each yarn with a white core, and at this weight the breaking-in exposes those cores quickly, which is where the high contrast, the deep creasing, and the pronounced texture of a well-worn pair all come from. A 10oz natural vegetable-tanned leather patch rides at the waistband, heavy enough to earn its own patina, with tin hardware and a button fly closing out a pair built for the long haul.

Fit Notes: These fit pretty roomy in comparison to their lighter weight options. The heavier stuff almost always does, but we don't recommend changing your sizing. The extra room is needed for the break-in, and they will mold to your body over time. Tommy is wearing his normal size 34 in the photos. We would recommend you grab your normal Naked & Famous size. Tommy is 5'9", 160lbs with a 33-34" waist.
