270-60XX - 12oz Selvedge Denim - Just Right Straight

American denim from the 1960s ran lighter than the heavyweight Japanese fabrics that later came to define the category, and the 270-60XX goes back to that reference point. ONI built this fabric with a 12.5oz American cloth of the era in mind, then wove and finished it in Japan at 12oz, which lands it at a weight you can wear in August and still get real fading out of by spring. The surface is where ONI's hand shows. Slub runs irregularly through the weave and the face stays naturally uneven, so there is depth in the denim from the first time you put it on rather than something that only arrives after a year of wear. Those same irregularities are what the fades eventually follow, pulling the indigo back along the high points of the weave and leaving a pattern that belongs to one pair only. Copper rivets, a button fly, and a leather patch handle the hardware, and a single wash means the shrink is already out of it.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 34 in these pants. He has been going for the 34 as his standard fit as of late, as it always seems to land around the 34" mark. We would recommend snagging your normal ONI size in these, and sizing up at least once if you don't know it. Tommy is 5'9," 160lbs, with a 33-34" waist.
