2978-2107 - 13.7oz "Dartford" Indigo Selvedge - Type I

Dartford sits about 25km southeast of London, and its claim on music history happened on Platform 2 of the local train station in 1961, when Mick Jagger and Keith Richards ran into each other and started talking about records. Full Count names this jacket for the town and builds the color around what Jagger wore through the years that followed, a denim jacket gone slightly yellow in tone, deeply creased, faded hard, and worn past the point of repair in places. The fabric is Full Count's own 13.7oz selvedge, woven from 100% Zimbabwean cotton, which is the thing the brand has staked its reputation on since the early nineties. The fiber runs long and is picked by hand, so the yarn spins softer than most and the denim has give to it from the first wear rather than demanding months of breaking in. At 13.7oz it still has structure, which is what a Type 1 needs.

The pattern follows the original Type 1 closely: action pleats running down either side of the front, a single flap pocket on the left chest, and a buckle-back adjuster at the rear to take in the waist. Copper rivets sit at the stress points. It is cut and sewn in Okayama, the same region that has been building Japan's denim since the industry started there.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 42 in this jacket. Turns out that is his standard size in their Type I jacket. We would recommend buying one size bigger than you normally wear for this jacket, or your normal Full Count size if you know it. Tommy is 5'9," 160lbs, with a 41" chest.
