900HM-60XX - 12oz "Handmade" Selvedge Denim - Wide Straight

Before automated sewing machines took over the factory floor and rivets became the standard answer to a stress point, a pair of work pants got its strength from the hands that built it and the stitches those hands put down. The 900HM-60XX is ONI's reconstruction of that approach, and the HM in the name stands for handmade. Rows of stitching pile up where a later pair would simply place a rivet, the seams are flat-felled rather than chainstitched lap seams, the bar tacks run linear, and the belt loops are the Banzai type, named for the way their raised ends look like arms thrown up in celebration. Every one of those choices slows the sewing down and leaves the finished pair with the slightly irregular, squared-off character of old workwear. The fabric looks back to American denim of the 1960s, woven and finished in Japan at 12oz with an uneven surface, subtle slub running through it, and the visual depth ONI has built its name on. That weight keeps the jeans wearable deep into warm weather while giving up none of the texture, and the irregularity of the weave means the fades will land differently on every pair.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 34 in these pants. He has been going for the 34 as his standard fit as of late, as it always seems to land around the 34" mark. We would recommend snagging your normal ONI size in these, and sizing up at least once if you don't know it. Tommy is 5'9," 160lbs, with a 33-34" waist.
