3sixteen knits its FW26 watch caps from the same tweed yarn running through this season's sweaters, so the cap and the knitwear speak the same language. The tweed character lives in the yarn itself, with flecks of contrasting fiber spun in before anything is knit, and once the yarn runs through the machine those flecks surface as small tufts of color scattered across the ground. Up close the whole cap is speckled. From a few feet away it settles into one deep, slightly weathered tone. The structure is a half-cardigan rib, a variation that tucks a stitch on alternate rows to build more loft into the fabric than a standard rib carries, giving the cap a fuller rib line along with the stretch to pull on easily and the recovery to snap back instead of going slack by February. Length is the other detail worth knowing. 3sixteen cut these long enough to work either way, so a single fold leaves the cap sitting deeper on the head and a double cuff pulls it up shallow, with the choice left to whoever is wearing it. Alpaca carries the warmth at 60% of the blend and wool brings the resilience.
