CCBE-003 - 14oz "Camel Core x Indigo" Selvedge Denim - Regular Straight

Rope-dyed indigo coats the outside of a yarn and stops short of the center, which is why conventional denim fades toward white as the surface wears away. Pure Blue Japan starts this one somewhere else. The warp yarn is camel-colored before it ever reaches the indigo vat, so the dye wraps a warm core rather than a bare one, and the weft is beige instead of white. Everything hidden inside this fabric is already in the brown family. As the blue abrades off the high points, that camel center surfaces and the fades come through hazy and sepia-toned, much closer to the look of selvedge fabrics from decades past than to the hard blue-and-white contrast of a modern pair. The brand describes the eventual character as dusty, and that is about right: the fading reads like sun and earth rather than bleach.

The cloth itself gives all of that something to work with. At 14oz it is densely textured, packed with the slub and nep that run through everything PBJ weaves, so the surface sits uneven from the start and the wear patterns follow those irregularities as they develop. The CCBE-003 puts the fabric on the Regular Straight, the house pattern the brand has built for years. Iron buttons, copper rivets, and a one wash finish from the factory.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a 34 in these. He snagged his normal size, forgetting that the 003 runs a little tight on him in that size. He would likely buy the size 35. We recommend sizing up once in these by nature, and going up once more if you're looking for a roomy leg fit. If you like the true straight leg fit, once should be enough. Tommy is 5'9,' 160lbs with a 33-34" waist.
