MDNT-002 - 14oz "Midnight Indigo x Black" Selvedge Denim - Piped Wide Straight

Midnight is the right word for it. The warp carries indigo and sulphur dye together, the same pairing behind the Oceanic, pushed to a darker indigo on the top layer, and the weft is black rather than the usual white. On conventional denim that white weft flashes through the twill and keeps the surface lively. Here it is gone, so nothing lifts the color and the blue settles into something close to charcoal, muted and matte where the Oceanic still carries a bright luster. The 14oz cloth comes off old shuttle looms, which leaves the uneven, rough-textured surface the brand has built its name on, and the flat finish makes that texture easier to read, since no shine competes with it. What the color does over time is the real draw. It holds dark through the early months and then starts separating, the high points at the knees and the seat pulling away while the rest keeps its depth, so the contrast builds slowly and the jeans get more dramatic rather than lighter. The MDNT-002 puts that denim on the Piped Wide Straight, a new wider fit we've been begging for, for years. Custom iron buttons, hidden rivets, and a black lambskin patch handle the hardware, with tonal stitching and dark Shoai leaf embroidery keeping the detailing quiet enough to let the fabric carry it.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a 34 in this new Piped fit. It was a spectacular fit in the waist and fit just the way he likes in the legs. We would recommend buying your normal PBJ size, or going up once from what you wear in your normal sizing. But, as always, go with what works best in the waist on the size charts. Tommy is 5'9,' 160lbs with a 33-34" waist.
