OCE-002 - 14oz "Oceanic Indigo x Black" Selvedge Denim - Piped Wide Straight

Pure Blue Japan named this fabric for the color of deep water, and the recipe behind it explains why it goes that dark. The warp carries indigo and sulphur dye together, a pairing that holds the blue while dropping its brightness, and the weft is black rather than the usual white. On conventional denim that white weft flashes through the twill and keeps the surface lively. Here it is gone, so the blue reads dense and oceanic with the light absorbed rather than bounced back. The 14oz cloth comes off old shuttle looms, which leaves the uneven, rough-textured surface the brand has built its name on, and it behaves differently from indigo alone as it wears. The color deepens toward a darker cast while the contrast across the surface grows stronger, so the jeans get more dramatic rather than lighter. The OCE-002 puts that denim on the Piped Wide Straight, a new wider fit we've been begging for, for years. Custom iron buttons, hidden rivets, and a black lambskin patch handle the hardware, with tonal stitching and dark Shoai leaf embroidery keeping the detailing quiet enough to let the fabric carry it.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a 34 in this new Piped fit. It was a spectacular fit in the waist and fit just the way he likes in the legs. We would recommend buying your normal PBJ size, or going up once from what you wear in your normal sizing. But, as always, go with what works best in the waist on the size charts. Tommy is 5'9,' 160lbs with a 33-34" waist.
