The Old School Work Boots Sock takes its cues from the retro tube socks that used to come three to a pack, right down to the contrasting stripes banded around the upper calf. Rototo knits them in Japan on a traditional low-gauge machine, which uses fewer needles and heavier yarn to build a thicker, denser fabric than a modern high-gauge machine can produce. That is where the cushioning comes from, and there is plenty of it underfoot. The heel and toe are reinforced to take the abuse those areas see inside a boot, and the attention paid to the shaping shows the moment you pull a pair on. These are some of the most comfortable socks we have ever had on our feet.
