The Samurai SSS26-KSKW Konoko Sashiko Open Collar Shirt takes the same extraordinary Ai-Madara sashiko fabric from the long-sleeve work shirt and puts it into a short-sleeve summer silhouette that opens up the fabric story in a completely different way. The name Konoko translates to fawn in Japanese, a reference to the dappled spotted pattern on a fawn's coat, a motif that historically carried spiritual significance and was reserved for formal and ceremonial garments. Samurai's interpretation builds that spotted quality into the fabric itself through a sashiko construction with a brown base layer and natural indigo blended stitches placed specifically in the sections most prone to friction and wear. As those stitches fade over time, the Konoko spotted pattern will gradually emerge across the surface, producing a garment that looks meaningfully different a year from now than it does today.
