V-Neck Sweater - Hunter Green

The tweed look here comes out of the yarn rather than the weave. Flecks of contrasting fiber are spun into the alpaca and wool before anything is knit, the same trick behind Donegal yarns from the west of Ireland, and once the yarn runs through the machine those flecks surface as small tufts of color scattered across the hunter green ground. Up close the whole surface is speckled. From across a room it settles into a deep, slightly weathered green with more happening in it than a flat dye could manage. The shape takes its cues from vintage knitwear: a boxy body, a hem that stops short, shoulders dropped past the natural line, and a v-neck opening cut a little lower than usual. Chunky ribbing runs the cuffs, the hem, and a 1.5" collar, giving the sweater enough structure at its edges to hold that boxy line rather than slumping. Alpaca carries the warmth at 60% of the blend, wool brings the resilience, and it all gets knit in Peru.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a large in this piece. He always likes his sweaters to fit a bit more slouchy, so he figured sizing up couldn't hurt. The knitwear tends to run about a size smaller than the shirting and jackets these days. Tommy is 5'9," 160lbs with a 40" chest.
