5409-1 - Yarn Dyed Sweatshirt - Indigo

Pure Blue Japan's 5409-1 sweatshirt is built from the ground up with character and comfort in mind. Made using 100% cotton yarns dyed with deep indigo, the fabric is knit slowly on traditional circular machines for a luxuriously soft and spongy texture. Like their denim, this sweatshirt is made to fade beautifully with wear. In fact, the 5409-1 has long been considered the gold standard for indigo-dyed sweatshirts - revered for its exceptional fade potential and subtle, high-character patina over time. It features ribbing at the collar, hem, and underarms - each section knit from the same indigo-dyed yarns to maintain tonal cohesion while allowing mobility. A subtle indigofera leaf embroidery at the hem nods to PBJ’s signature identity. The underarm gusseting further enhances movement, making this a piece that blends classic Japanese construction with the timeless charm of fade-ready indigo.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 5 in this sweatshirt. That is the size he decided to go with on all the tops this round. As you can see by the size charts, these run pretty trim. He would have been able to wear a size 4 in this piece for a more tailored look, but preferred the room of a 5 for a boxier look. We recommend starting with one size larger than what you normally wear. Tommy is 5'10,' 165lbs with a 40" chest.
